The Fruit of the Spirit - Meekness

The eighth revelation of the Fruit of the Spirit is meekness.

Numbers 12
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth)

The Word tells us that Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth, and yet this man was capable of murder.

Exodus 2
11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Many mistake meekness for weakness.... but meekness is not weakness.

Matthew 26
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

A roman legion consisted of six thousand soldiers. Twelve legions of angels alone would be seventy-two thousand angels! But it was his love for the Father, his love for us, and his devotion to his Father's will that caused him to go as a lamb to the slaughter... Meekness is power and strength under control, reigned in by love. Meekness is Jesus Christ, the lion and the lamb.

Mathew 11
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Taking up the burden of the Lord is part of how He begins to teach us about Himself and His ways. We also begin learning more about ourselves and what actually resides in our hearts. As we remain meek and humble before Christ we will find rest, because we learn to rely on His strength, not our own.

God bless.
