Urs: Bloom With Books

Hey Folks!  I just wanted to come by and speak a bit about Laurie, our wonderful leader here.  I had written before to let you know that she was going through personal stuggles, and to please pray and send as much love and encouragement that you could.  Obviously things haven't gotten much better.  In fact they got worse, and she is in bitter turmoil.  Bless her heart, she is devastated with personal health and family issues, and really needs our extra prayers.  Please send prayers filled with wisdom, and guidance, and determination, and encouragemen, and strength, and LOVE!  PLEASE!  ♥

Until Laurie gets back, if you are finding that you need some spiritual guidance, or some help with your walk, or need any kind of prayer, I'd like to invite you to come over to 2ormore.  It's moderated, and you have to become a member, but I think you will be happy there.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me through my journal, heyurs. :)

Thank-you!  I hope you are all doing well and feel blessed.  ♥

Vines, Branches, and Fruit
Ephesians 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Not of works... Why are we so drawn to works? In ancient times the message of faith was preached and accepted. Later denominations showed up and added works to the message. You have to pray X amount of times a day, or confess this, or do that or you won't make it to Heaven. If you read the Old Covenant you will see one thing continually.

The Law came by Moses and God by Moses said if you want a blessing, work for it. While grace says I give it to you freely. The Law demands that your blessings be earned, while grace says you don't have to earn just accept it! And we as human beings have within us something that cries... No, No, No, there is something I must do! There is something I must do!! And God says I'VE DONE IT! It takes some of us almost a lifetime to come to the realization that there is nothing good in the flesh...nothing of the flesh that God wants.

Here is a little illustration to show where many, many Christians are today.

GRACECollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Temperance
The ninth and final revelation of the Fruit of the Spirit is temperance. Galatians 5 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. TemperanceCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Meekness
The eighth revelation of the Fruit of the Spirit is meekness.

Numbers 12
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth)

MeeknessCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Faith
The seventh revelation of the Fruit of the Spirit is faith.

As I was taught, there are three kinds of faith revealed in the Word of God. The seed of faith, the gift of faith, and the fruit of faith.

 Romans 12
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Romans 10
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

FaithCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Goodness
The sixth revelation of the Fruit of the Spirit is goodness.

Mathew 19
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

GoodnessCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Gentleness
The fifth revelation of the fruit of the Spirit is gentleness.

2 Samuel 18
4 And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.

This was King David's command to his captains concerning his son Absalom who rebelled and forced David into a battle with him for the throne. Think of a loving, tenderhearted father's gentleness toward a child that he loves more than himself...GentlenessCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Long-suffering
The fourth revelation of the fruit of the Spirit is long-suffering. This aspect helps us to endure sufferings,  punishments, insults, rejections, abuse...Long-sufferingCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Peace
The third revelation of the fruit of the Spirit is peace. This peace that is born out of the Spirit of Jesus surpasses all understanding...PeaceCollapse )

The Fruit of the Spirit - Joy
Psalm 16
11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Joy is the second revelation of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). This joy that is born in us by the Holy Ghost rises above circumstances, and focuses on the very character of God. There is so much to be joyful for in the Lord. We can rejoice over God's righteousness (Psalms 71:14-16), salvation (Psalms 21:1; 71:23), mercy (Psalms 31:7), creation (Psalms 148:5), Word (Psalms119:14, 162), and faithfulness (Psalms 33:1-6). This joy is a joy that surpasses earthly understanding...
